Using my skytrak i m trying to track several parameters.
Driving iron vs hybrid off the tee.
They are different than hybrid golf clubs which are the combination of a fairway wood and an iron clubface.
I know driving irons look cooler in the bag and feel nicer to some players but they re a lot.
Thanks to all who responded.
Hybrid and driving iron have almost identical values with approx.
Probably the driving iron will be a good 10m longer overall even though the clubhead and ball speed is lower.
Hybrid off the tee on par threes and for safety if you are an avid golfer there is a good chance that at least one or two hybrid clubs already reside in your bag.
And for good reason hybrids are extremely versatile easy to hit golf clubs that have replaced long irons in the bags of many amateur golfers.
More recently driving irons have become a mix between a hybrid and an iron.
Off the tee a hybrid can be treated like an iron.
Compared to standard irons driving irons generally have a bulkier back of the club which adds more weight to the swing and the ability reach further distances off the tee.
I want to see the difference in choosing a very conservative approach on a hole that has a tight fairway versus hitting my driver.
224 yards carry of the tee.
3 the tmb is a great iron but probably not for me.
The driving iron will still be longer as it has much less spin the landing angle is flatter and therefore will still have a lot of roll.
First off if hybrids are easier for you to hit why would you prefer to play a driving iron.
Titleist 718 t mb this full set includes a 2 iron with an l shape face insert and tungsten heel and toe weights that use more than 90 grams to improve ball speed on off center strikes.
While you still use a tee most golfers prefer to have it just off the ground enough so that you make contact with the center of the club without having to go too deep into the ground.
If i m looking for the ultimate safety tee shot my 4 iron is the club i use off the tee.
